The Sheffield Wednesday academy graduate was his side’s man of the match for Monday’s Steel City Derby.
Some Sheffield Wednesday fans want the Owls to give Liam Palmer a new contract.
Palmer is one of nine players whose Hillsborough deals expire at the end of June.
Of those, however, only he, George Boyd and Keiren Westwood have featured regularly in recent weeks, and look the most likely to be offered extensions.
But after a man of the match display against Sheffield United on Monday – a continuation of the form he has shown since Jos Luhukay’s departure as manager in December – Palmer’s situation is becoming all the more pressing.

Liam Palmer played out of his skin last night. Looks a completely new player under Bruce. I think it’s only fair he gets a new contract in the summer after recent performances #swfc

Palmer has been brilliant this past dozen or so games but is it like Nuhiu last season and simply because he is out of contract? Makes you wish you could put all players on one year deals #swfc

Palmer, who began his career in central midfield, has spent the past few campaigns as Sheffield Wednesday’s second-choice right-back, even after Jack Hunt’s sale last July.
Post-Luhukay, however, the 27-year-old has successfully ousted Ashley Baker and kept January signing Dominic Iorfa waiting in the wings.
Should Sheffield Wednesday offer Palmer a new contract?
