HITC Sport understands a host of Championship clubs are tracking Northampton Town defender Aaron Pierre.
Highly-rated Northampton Town defender Aaron Pierre has emerged as a target for a number of Championship clubs this summer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Pierre has enjoyed an outstanding season to date for Northampton with the powerful central defender a virtual ever-present in the side having made 35 appearances in all competitions.
The 26-year-old has proved himself to be effective in both boxes, chipping in with six goals from centre-half and his performances have brought him on the radar of clubs higher up the football pyramid.
Pierre has captained the side on several occasions this season and he has been instrumental in Northampton’s recent good form as they climbed away from trouble at the wrong end of League Two.
The Grenada international is regarded as one of the best centre-halves in the lower leagues after impressing at Wycombe prior to his move to Northampton in the summer of 2017.
Pierre has just over a year to run on his contract at Northampton and the Cobblers are bracing themselves for interest in the speedy defender when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
