Newcastle United's winning run came to an end at the weekend as they lost 2-0.
Rafa Benitez's men went into the trip to the capital looking to secure a third consecutive win having beaten both Huddersfield and Burnley 2-0 in their two previous games.
But, while the scoreline would be the same as their previous two fixtures, it was the home side who came out on top as goals from Declan Rice and Mark Noble brought the Magpies back down to earth after their recent upturn in form.
Noble's goal came after Lejeune brought Javier Hernandez down inside the box shortly before the break. And it seems that many Newcastle supporters felt that that error from the Frenchman largely summed up his evening.
Lejeune has been excellent since he returned from injury at the start of the year. But some have suggested that three games in eight days may have been too demanding for the centre-back, who was making only his ninth appearance of the season.
In fairness to the Newcastle supporters, many accept that it was a rare off-night for the defender and are being more critical of his performance rather than his quality, and it does not appear that anyone is asking for the 27-year-old to be dropped for Saturday's clash with Everton.
Here is what some of the supporters made of Lejeune's performance against the Irons...
Lascelles was good today, Lejeune and Schar were not . Rondon better second half, but was lazy first half. Need to keep this up for 90 mins, got Shelvey, Fernandez and Yedlin ready to play! #NUFC— Davez (@davez2010) March 2, 2019
No complaints there. Perez had one of those days that he has. Lejeune a rare shocker. Too many passengers elsewhere and Rondon and Almiron feeding off scraps. Respective squad strengths plain to see. For me, Shelvey has to be on the bench, although Diame improved things. #NUFC— Neil Farrington (@Neilfarrington) March 2, 2019
Lejeune is having an awful match. Consistently losing people in the box. #NUFC— CHN Radio ⚽️ (@chn_radio) March 2, 2019
Lejeune looks knackered. Too many games for him in a week, so slow. #nufc— Aman Sehgal (@Aman5ehgal) March 2, 2019
Lejeune has been shocking tonight— Cam (@Lascellxs) March 2, 2019
