David Brooks has signed a new long-term contract at Bournemouth – surely bringing an end to speculation linking him with a big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Welsh wizard has been a revelation on the South Coast after his £11.5 million move from Sheffield United last summer, catching the eye with his vision and intelligence on the ball while establishing himself as a genuine candidate to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
As a result, The Mirror reported in February that Tottenham were preparing a £50 million bid to bring Brooks to North London – and beat Manchester United to the youngster’s signature.
At the age of 21, the Wales international is exactly the sort of promising young talent who Mauricio Pochettino loves to work with. Considering the wonders he has worked with Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and co, imagine what he could do with Brooks.
But it seems that the little midfielder is more than happy with life at Bournemouth.
So while Bournemouth fans will be breathing a sigh of relief, Tottenham may be left cursing their luck.
