Leeds United threw away the chance to go back to the top of the Championship on Tuesday night.

Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Tyler Roberts’s performance during the Whites’ defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night which saw Marcelo Bielsa’s side pass up the chance to return to the top of the Championship.

On a miserable night for Leeds, Luke Freeman scored the game’s only goal during the early stages of the second-half with one of the few pieces of quality on show from either side.

QPR went into the game off the back of a run of seven straight league defeats. But barring one superb move from the visitors in the latter stages, it was the home side who looked most likely to score a second goal of the game. Kiko Casilla was certainly given a tougher evening than his opposite number.

And many of the Leeds supporters appear to feel that Roberts’s display was one of several key reasons for their struggles. He was clearly not the only player to be off the boil on Tuesday, but the Wales international appeared to really struggle at a ground where he had shone when the Whites were beaten in the FA Cup last month.

He struggled to make anything happen going forward, with his passing often proving to be poor. And it was Roberts who gave away possession in the build-up to the home side’s goal – though Leeds still had opportunities to win the ball back or prevent the chance falling to Freeman inside the six-yard box.

Roberts is still learning and it must not be forgotten that he bailed Leeds out on a couple of occasions earlier in the campaign. But it does appear that several supporters do not believe that the youngster is the answer to the Whites’ number 10 conundrum.

Some have asked for the former West Brom starlet – who signed for an initial £2.5 million last January (via Yorkshire Evening Post) – to be dropped from the side that faces the Baggies this Friday. But with Leeds’s options stretched, it is not entirely clear who would come in to replace the forward.
