Leicester City reportedly wanted to appoint Peter Stoger before turning to Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.

Peter Stoger was a candidate to get the Leicester City job before the 2016 Premier League champions turned to Brendan Rodgers, according to Peter Linden.
The Foxes sacked Claude Puel on Sunday after the dismal 4-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace and it seems that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is about to succeed him at the King Power Stadium.
As reported by the BBC, the former Liverpool and Swansea boss is set to return to the English top flight after Celtic gave him permission to talk to the King Power chiefs.
But it seems that Rodgers was far from the only name under consideration. According to Peter Linden, Leicester were also interested in the veteran Austrian Stoger; a 52-year-old boss who is seen as something of a Sam Allardyce figure in the Bundesliga.

Stoger spent four years at Cologne and led them into Europe for the first time in 24 years at the end of 2016/17. However, he was sacked midway through the next season with the Billy Goats doomed to relegation.
Stoger then spent six months as the interim coach of Borussia Dortmund, stabilising a side that had collapsed under Dutchman Peter Bosz and leading them into the Champions League places.
Interestingly, Peter Linden adds that Stoger was a target for Huddersfield Town in January but he turned them down before the Terriers appointed Jan Siewert.
