West Ham United loanee Joe Powell bagged his first goal out on loan at the weekend.
A number of West Ham and Northampton fans have taken to social media to reply to Joe Powell after the midfielder commented on scoring his first goal out on loan on Twitter.
Powell was making his fourth start for the Cobblers at the weekend as they travelled to Stevenage looking to extend their recent unbeaten run that has started to lift them up the League Two table.
And it was Powell who gave them the perfect start at the Lamex Stadium as he slid the ball under the goalkeeper after 19 minutes to give Keith Curle’s side the lead.
Stevenage would equalise late on, but Northampton would secure the three points in stoppage-time as Andy Williams scored his eighth league goal of the campaign.
For Powell, it was another landmark moment in what looks set to be a very good season for the Hammers youngster. The 20-year-old scored seven goals in Premier League 2 and made his senior Irons debut in the 8-0 Carabao Cup win over Macclesfield back in September. He also provided two assists after coming on after the hour mark in that game.
And after he took to Twitter to express his delight at scoring his first league goal, several West Ham and Northampton fans responded by congratulating the midfielder. And there was also a message from former Hammers defender Paul Konchesky.
Here is Powell’s tweet as well as some of the best responses…
