Gianni Alioski scored the winner as Leeds United edged Bolton Wanderers 2-1 at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Bolton Wanderers fans have seen two of the Championship’s title-chasers in their last two match days.
A week after Norwich City cruised to a 4-0 win at the Macron Stadium, a performance full of class, guile and ruthlessness in the final third, Phil Parkinson’s struggling side travelled to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
But did Leeds match the standards set by Norwich against Bolton? Not exactly. While Daniel Farke’s side cut through the Trotters like a knife through room temperature butter, Leeds really made a meal of things.
A penalty from Patrick Bamford and a deflected cross from Gianni Alioski sealed a nervy, perhaps fortunate, win against a Bolton side stuck in the Championship’s relegation zone.
Three points are three points of course but, on this evidence, the Whites will need to play much better in the final few months of the season if they are to end their 15-year exile from the Premier League.
That is the opinion of many Bolton fans anyway, some of whom perhaps expected better from a side that has topped the table for much of the season.
Leeds aren't good enough to go up imo #BWFC

They were quite underwhelming throughout and we disrupted their play quite successfully. Bielsa pacing his tech area with his head drooped to the floor in concentration was a sight to behold. They has to work hard . It toll a penalty & gifted the second goal.Job well done Parky.

Away from all the trying to be funny on twitter, tell me that was a decent Leeds performance today against a team Norwich rinsed, easy to see who’ll go up for me
