Glasgow Rangers were reportedly keen to bring Curtis Tilt to Ibrox during the January transfer window.

Curtis Tilt has reportedly joined an agency in the hope of securing a future move, according to The Sun on Sunday (24/2; page 64), in a development that may alert Steven Gerrard and Rangers.

Tilt has been linked with the Gers for a while. The Daily Mail (05/1; page 111) reported last month that the Light Blues were plotting a fresh move for the centre-back, and he admitted that he would love to get the chance to play for Gerrard when asked about the prospect of heading to Ibrox.

The Sun on Sunday (24/2; page 64) reports that Tilt has joined Will Salthouse’s agency to boost his chances of leaving Blackpool.

It must be noted that the report suggests that he has his sights set on the Championship. But given his previous comments about potentially joining Rangers, the Gers must have a good chance of winning the race if they decide make a fresh move in the summer.

Gerrard will surely need to add to his defensive options at the end of the season. Joe Worrall is only on loan from Nottingham Forest, and Gareth McAuley only signed a one-year deal when he joined last year (via club’s official website), so there is no guarantee that he will be at the club next year.

Tilt has been excellent for Blackpool this term, scoring three goals and providing three assists in League One. Only two players in the entire squad have had a direct hand in more goals. And more importantly given his position, just one team in the division has conceded fewer goals than his side.
