Sean Longstaff impressed for Newcastle United yet again.

Gary Lineker has offered his verdict on Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff.

The 21-year-old Newcastle midfielder won rave reviews as the Magpies beat Huddersfield Town 2-0 at St James’s Park on Saturday.

All eyes were on Miguel Almiron, making his full debut following a £20 million January move [The Sun], but it was Longstaff who has stolen many of the post-match plaudits.

The United academy graduate was playing reserve football as recently as November but he has seriously established himself as a key player for Rafael Benitez.

And Lineker admits that he thought Longstaff was ‘excellent’ yesterday.

It was a big win for Newcastle and one that took them four points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Benitez’s side are by no means safe, but if the likes of Longstaff and Almiron continue to impress then it’s very difficult seeing them go down.

They’re back in action on Tuesday for a clash with relegation rivals Burnley.
