Jonathan Kodjia endured a difficult afternoon as Aston Villa came from behind to draw their latest Championship fixture.
Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jonathan Kodjia’s performance during their 1-1 draw with Stoke City on Saturday that leaves Dean Smith’s men 11th in the Championship.
With Stoke also struggling for form, the trip to the bet365 Stadium appeared to be a fantastic opportunity for the Villans to move towards getting their campaign back on track.
But Sam Vokes scored for the home side five minutes into the game. Albert Adomah equalised during the second-half to ensure that the points were shared, but it would have felt like a missed opportunity for the visitors.
Adomah only managed to score after Kodjia failed to get onto Anwar El Ghazi’s cross. And it appears that many Villa fans feel that that moment summed up the striker’s performance, and season, quite well.
Kodjia – who cost an initial £11 million, according to BBC Sport – has scored just seven Championship goals in 50 appearances since returning from the injury that ruled him out of most of last season. And some fans are not convinced that he remains motivated at Villa.
With the play-offs looking out of reach – though perhaps reeling off a few wins would quickly change the complexion of the table – some supporters believe that Smith would be better off using someone else instead of Kodjia as they are not convinced that he will be at the club next season.
Here is what some of the fans were saying following Kodjia’s performance…
Hope he makes a speedy recovery. On today’s performance I’d start Davis over Kodjia every week who’s body language suggests he can’t wait to leave.— Ram (@Villa_til_i_die) February 23, 2019
why did we loan out hogan and keep Kodjia #avfc— Tom Brown (@TommmBrownnn) February 23, 2019
Can clearly see that Kodjia is no longer the player he was. Absolutely pathetic today and with adomah— BobWallace87 (@Wallace14Bob) February 23, 2019
Ye definitely. Kodjia can go for a start. Think there will be a lot of changes in the summer.— Sam Clarke (@Samvilla123) February 23, 2019
I do believe its a huge last 12 games of the season for @J_Kodjia if he genuinely wants to remain at the Club next season, Simply has to start producing the magic he’s capable of, today feels like a missed opportunity already given the lack of starts. #avfc— Roger. W (@RW43avfc) February 23, 2019
