Arsenal allegedly want to appoint the Spaniard as the club's technical director.
According to a report from the Mirror, Arsenal are set to offer Roma man Monchi the technical director role, in full expectation that he will take it, and some Gunners fans took to Twitter in response to the speculation.
The 50-year-old has worked wonders during spells with Sevilla and Roma, and has forged a reputation for working minor miracles with limited budgets.
Arsenal are in transition as a football club, having replaced Arsene Wenger with Unai Emery last summer, and there have been rumours that the Spaniard will have to work with limited funds over the next few transfer windows.
The Spaniard would surely be a fantastic coup for the Gunners, and the north London outfit would have to pay just £1 million compensation to Roma in order to acquire his services, according to the Mirror.
Arsenal fans seemed to be split over whether Monchi would be a good appointment as the club's technical director, however...
I hope you’re right Pedro but this seems an uninspiring choice we now have no one in leadership without any idea of what Arsenal is which is why I was gravitating towards Overmars— You Are My Arsenal (@YouAreMyArsenal) 23 February 2019
As good as Overmars may have been he's not proven anything. At least Monchi is well known within football and by Emery. Trust in what Sanllehi is doing.— ᴊɪᴍ © (@JIMAFC_) 23 February 2019

In my opinion I completely disagree.— My friends call me Miz (@ouch_dat_burns) 23 February 2019
He is perfect for a small club and his appointment would be confirmation that we will never compete with the big clubs again
If he comes in, get used to seeing fan favourites leave to rivals albeit for big transfer fees that'll go to Stan
Have to admit that im@amazingly excited about the possibility of him coming to Arsenal. Too early to be his fanboy?— The Furry Wookie (@TheFurryWookie) 23 February 2019
Yes, would give me hope for the future again— David Russell (@Gunnadownunda) 22 February 2019
You think when teams will be selling to Arsenal they'll quote the same prices as they do to Roma or Sevilla??— Roy (@roysworld12) 23 February 2019
Doesn’t seem like Emery will go anywhere then— LA Bear (@LA__Bear) 22 February 2019
Monchi + Sanllehi would make me feel a lot better about the direction of Arsenal though I still think Mislintat was the real gem. https://t.co/torku4MbCs— Thomas Sloan (@ThomasSloan_) 22 February 2019
Exciting times ahead! Monchi, one of the most respected executives in the the world of football will most likely join Arsenal in the summer. Massive coup from the Gunners since he was being suited by the biggest teams in the world like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico. ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/jONvrCQr3l— Eduardo Hagn (@EduardoHagn) 22 February 2019
