Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert has been given a two-match touchline ban and a £3,000 fine after he was sent off in the Championship loss to Norwich City on 10 February.

The ban will come into effect immediately, meaning the Blues boss will have to watch Saturday’s visit to Wigan Athletic and the following weekend’s home clash with Reading from the stands.

Lambert did not contest the misconduct charge, which followed an ill-tempered East Anglian derby that included clashes between players in both halves, but he did write to the FA to explain his actions.

The touchline incident came in first-half stoppage time at Carrow Road after Ipswich midfielder Jon Nolan fouled Norwich defender Max Aarons, leading to a fracas in which Lambert and opposition coach Chris Domogalla were both dismissed after a confrontation spilled off the pitch.

Alongside Lambert's ban, Norwich have been fined £25,000 and Ipswich £20,000 for their part in the fracas during the game, which finished in a 3-0 win for Daniel Farke's side.

Ipswich are currently bottom of the Championship, nine points adrift of safety, so Lambert's touchline ban against other struggling sides watching their backs will come as a huge blow for the Portman Road faithful.
