Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will take on Kilmarnock at Celtic Park today.

Celtic will return to action this afternoon when they take on Kilmarnock away from home at Rugby Park in the Scottish Premiership.

The Hoops will head into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Valencia at Celtic Park in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 32 tie.

Brendan Rodgers’s side will be aiming to bounce back from their defeat in Europe and extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic have picked up 57 points from 25 matches, five points more than second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers, who have played 26 games.

Kilmarnock have slipped away from the title race and have bagged 46 points from 25 games.

Celtic will be favourites to win against Steve Clarke’s team today, and the Glasgow giants’ players will head into the match high on confidence.

Ahead of the match, former Celtic midfielder and manager David Hay believes that 31-year-old winger Jonny Hayes will be be drafted into the team, and that Emilio Izaguirre will be taken out.

Hay was not impressed with the performance of the 32-year-old left-back against Valencia.

“I strongly suspect it will be a pretty different team, too, with a number of changes made,” Hay wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times.

“Emilio Izaguirre looked lost against Valencia and I think Jonny Hayes will come back in.

“I also think that Odsonne Edouard will lead the line with a view to starting the game over in Spain next week.”
