Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and of course everyone on Twitter was struck by Cupid’s arrow and in the mood for love. While I was ranting about the video game idols you wouldn't to date, Naughty Dog celebrated the day by releasing a new and beautiful piece of concept art for The Last Of Us Part 2.
Although new, the concept art doesn’t reveal anything we don’t already know about the game as the picture is a call-back to The Last Of Us Part 2’s E3 2018 gameplay demo. As you can see in the tweet above, the illustration is a stunning black-and-white construction of Ellie and Dina’s dance performed by Ashley Johnson and Westworld’s Shannon Woodward. You can see how the scene eventually panned out by watching the gameplay demo below.
There hasn’t been much news about The Last Of Us Part 2 since the game’s composer said it is coming “very soon”. An ex-IGN editor has said it is 100% confirmed for 2019, but we don’t know for sure as back in December 2018 there was a ridiculous Amazon leak that suggested Ellie and Joel’s follow-up would be released in March.
In other PlayStation news, Sony Santa Monica has begun hiring for – presumably – their inevitable God Of War sequel, and a former Red Dead Redemption 2 animator has joined Sony’s new first-party studio to work on what could be Uncharted’s foray into the next-generation of PlayStation. Sony has also hired another director for Tom Holland's Uncharted movie in an effort to dethrone Alicia Vikander's Tomb Raider as the best video game adaptation, and the director for the Metal Gear Sold film has compared Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding to Mad Max: Fury Road.
