The ex-Barnsley and Leeds United manager, Paul Heckingbottom, is back in work at Hibernian.

With the transfer window closed, Heckingbottom must wait until the summer before he can add to his squad [unless he enters the free agent market].

But which of the 41-year's former players are likely to emerge as targets?

HITC picks out three possibilities...

Paudie O'Connor [Leeds United]

Maudie O'Connor of Leeds clears the ball during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Sunderland at Elland Road on April 7, 2018 in Leeds, England.

Hibernian failed to replace Efe Ambrose after the centre-back's surprise free transfer in January, and doing so could be one of Heckingbottom's top priorities this summer. It was he who gave O'Connor his debut at Leeds, albeit amid an injury crisis, last season. But the young Irishman has often found himself sidelined at loan clubs Blackpool and Bradford City this campaign.

Ryan Hedges [Barnsley]

Another winger may also feature on Heckingbottom's summer wishlist, with Thomas Agyepong and Ryan Gauld both due back at their parent clubs. Hedges played the bulk of his 48 games for Barnsley under the new Hibs boss, but the Welshman has been a bit-part player this season - the last of his Oakwell contract.

Ryan Edmondson [Leeds United]

Marc McNulty's loan spell also ends this summer, and if a replacement is required then Edmondson could be that man. Heckingbottom took the 17-year-old striker on Leeds' post-season tour of Myanmar and he has been knocking on the door of Marcelo Bielsa's promotion-chasing squad this term. First-team football is surely heading Edmondson's way, but getting it at Elland Road may be difficult if things go to plan between now and May.

Which of Heckingbottom's old players would you like to see at Hibernian next season?
