After a mixed spell since the turn of the year, Leeds certainly appeared to be back to their best on Wednesday night as they beat Swansea 2-1 at Elland Road to move back to the top of the Championship.
Marcelo Bielsa's side controlled the large majority of the game, and the scoreline perhaps flattered the visitors who were allowed to set up a nervy finish thanks to a late penalty.
In truth, every Leeds player seemed to step up on the night. But there are a contingent of Whites fans on Twitter who believe that one man in particular is not getting the credit that he deserves following his display: Mateusz Klich.
The Poland international has been one of the players who had struggled recently. His brace against Rotherham had been a rare highlight, but Klich looked much more like the player that stunned so many at the start of the campaign.
One of the suggestions about the 28-year-old recently has been that he looks tired, but his energy on Wednesday was frightening. He was constantly providing an option for a teammate, regardless of whether the ball was in the middle of the park or down either flank.
Klich also got stuck in when Swansea did threaten to get into Leeds's defensive third. It was very much a reminder of how good the central midfielder can be.
Nevertheless, several fans believe that Klich's performance deserves more praise. The likes of Pontus Jansson and Kalvin Phillips are, understandably, taking many of the plaudits, but some have labelled Klich's display incredible.
Here is what some of the fans made of the midfielder's performance...
There's only one correct answer for most underrated, most underappreciated Leeds player and his name is Mateusz Klich. He was incredible tonight, but incredible in a way that you only notice if you're specifically looking for it. #LUFC— ETHAN (@EthanFromOnline) February 13, 2019
This, can’t believe how little praise Klich has got for his performance tonight tbh. He was absolutely incredible second half especially.— Oscar Marriott (@OscarMarrio) February 13, 2019
He’s been unreal all season for me and not just for the goals https://t.co/oga9o1KHMU
Thought klich looked back to his best tonight— Danieljamesrose (@danieljamesros2) February 13, 2019
Klich has been everywhere tonight— James (@J_4710) February 13, 2019
Quite interesting how people see it differently. Thought Ayling was unlucky with the pen, legs tangled a little. Otherwise his best game for some time.— Samuel Flinn (@chuddsy92) February 14, 2019
I actually thought Klich was outstanding, his pressing and ball winning was second to none.
Kalvin was unreal. I haven’t been in awe of a performance of a player like that in a while. Klich fantastic defensively too, really solid performance tonight and the most one sided 2-1 ever lol, everyone was just so bloody good very comfortable game. Phillips > Fordham every time— Ben Sharp (@Ben_Sharp0483) February 13, 2019
Thought Phillips, Jansson, Cooper and Klich were very very good tonight. One of Harrison’s better games too. Not too many bad performances tbf, except the ref obv #lufc— Jordan Carter (@JordanCarter10) February 13, 2019
He was everywhere— ¡Waccoe ! (@WACCOE) February 13, 2019
