New "Tolkien" trailer packs plenty of "Lord of the Rings" imagery

Tolkien - Trailer Balrog/Mordor

The new Tolkien biopic looks like it could be incredible

You may have heard of J.R.R. Tolkien, he's written a few books you may be familiar with. And in turn that makes him responsible for some of the biggest and best films cinema has ever seen.

Well now the legendary author is to get the biopic treatment.

Nicholas Hoult will star as the famed writer as the film details Tolkien's formative years.

Nicholas Hoult attends The BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on January 5, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

It looks like we'll see the orphaned author's early years in school, where he forms his own fellowship of companions, before moving on to the writer's horrific experiences faced fighting in the First World War. All of which become inspiration for the writer's revered work.

To give fans a better idea of the film, a new teaser trailer has been released and it's packed with plenty of Lord of the Rings imagery. If you keep a keen eye out, you may just catch a glimpse or two of the Balrog, the huge flame-covered demon that Gandalf faces down in Fellowship of the Ring.

You can watch the teaser trailer below.

The new Tolkien biopic is scheduled for release on May 10, 2019.
