Tony Dorigo was asked which Championship player he would like to add to Leeds United's squad given their current position.

Tony Dorigo has suggested to the LS11 podcast that someone like Dwight Gayle would be the player he would look at when asked which Championship player he would add to Leeds United's squad if given a opportunity to make a signing right now.

Marcelo Bielsa's squad have enjoyed a superb season so far. The Whites now sit second in the table and could potentially move six points clear of the chasing pack should results go their way on Wednesday.

But there is a little concern around Elland Road, with Leeds's form since the turn of the year opening the door for some of their promotion rivals in recent weeks.

After such a strong start, Leeds are under pressure to make sure that they get themselves across the line. And when asked which second tier player he would add to the squad to help them get promoted, Dorigo confirmed that a goalscorer would be at the top of his list.

"Who's going to guarantee me about 10 goals between now and the end of the season? Gayle at West Brom, I suppose," he told LS11. "He's a bit of a goalscorer. Just someone that it goes off his backside and goes in, rather than doing 23 passes and having a wonder-goal. Someone like that."

Kemar Roofe has enjoyed a fantastic campaign, and Leeds now have Patrick Bamford back playing. But having someone like Gayle in the ranks also would clearly be a boost.

The West Brom loanee has scored 16 goals in the league - two more than Roofe - and inspired Newcastle's title win the last time they were playing in the Championship.

West Brom will certainly be tipped by many to secure promotion thanks to having players like Gayle. But if Leeds get Roofe back to his best and Bamford can stay fit and contribute a decent number of goals, then the Whites will definitely have a fantastic chance of remaining in the top two for the rest of the season.
