As reported by Nintendo Life, Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto has twice retweeted the announcement of the upcoming Nintendo Direct taking place today at 14:00 PT (22:00 in the UK). With Hashimoto being the co-creator of the Kingdom Hearts series, as well as someone who has previously been involved with Final Fantasy, the most optimistic of fans are praying this means there will be a reveal pertaining to Kingdom Hearts 3.
While some fans are begging for the much rumoured Sora – the spikey haired protagonist of Kingdom Hearts – to be added as a combatant for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, others are keeping their fingers crossed for Kingdom Hearts to be released on the Switch.

Although Tetsuya Nomura did say back in 2017 that Square Enix would consider the Switch and “other hardware” after Kingdom Hearts 3 was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, a Nintendo Switch port so soon is massively unlikely.
With Square Enix having recently filed trademarks for a bunch of classic Final Fantasy titles in Europe and North America, perhaps the company’s involvement will be to announce the localisation of the Seiken Densetsu Collection. That or today’s Direct will contain info pertaining to the already announced Switch port of Final Fantasy VII.
The most fans should probably be optimistic for is Sora to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC, but Square Enix’s involvement will likely be about Final Fantasy seeing as Hashimoto is currently the series’ brand manager.
In other Square Enix news, Final Fantasy 14's director has said he wants the series' 16th instalment to take the franchise back to its roots, and Square Enix has trademarked Parasite Eve in the United Kingdom.
