The Southampton boss is a popular figure at St Mary's.
Southampton ace James Ward-Prowse sat down for an exclusive interview with the club's official website, and shared how he immediately respected Ralph Hasenhüttl, after the Austrian sat him down and told him exactly what he expected of him.
The south coast outfit currently sit inside the bottom three, but Hasenhüttl has undoubtedly made a big impact since taking over at St Mary's at the start of December, and the Saints fans are finally starting to see progress and a long-term vision for their club.
They still have a lot of work to do, however, if the are to avoid relegation down to the Championship this season.
Ward-Prowse, 24, sat down for an exclusive interview with the club's official website, and opened up on how impressed he has been with Hasenhüttl's direct and honest approach to management:
“It was the first time I’ve ever had a manager who’s come in and had individual meetings with every player,” he opens up. In my meeting, he showed me exactly what he needed from me in terms of being a central midfield player – being more aggressive and winning more tackles, which is what I’ve tried to do. It’s obviously helped that I’m playing in my natural position, but that conversation kick-started things and I immediately gained respect for him, because he came in and told me truthfully what he thought of me as a player and as a person, and what he needed from me."
Next up for Southampton is a trip to Arsenal on February 24th, before they play host to Fulham.
The Saints then face games against Manchester United and Tottenham, so Hasenhuttl's men will have to be on their very best form over the next few weeks, if they are to stand any chance whatsoever of moving out of the relegation zone.
