A Baggies tweet from January has been unearthed which has been ripped apart by some Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers fans.
Dwight Gayle is not a very popular individual at this moment in time after his apparent dive in West Bromwich Albion's Championship clash with Nottingham Forest resulted in a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns.
The on-loan Newcastle United man went down in the box just minutes from time, seemingly under a challenge from Alexander Milosevic, and replays showed there was little to no contact from the Reds defender, though a penalty was awarded.
It had been an eventful game prior to the incident as Stefan Johansen scored an own goal to give Martin O'Neill's side the lead six minutes into his home debut before Jacob Murphy slotted home his first Albion goal after the break.
Ryan Yates restored the lead for Forest with a volley that came off the woodwork, but with the hosts seemingly on the way to defeat came the controversial incident involving Gayle which led to Jay Rodriguez given the chance from the penalty spot, which he successfully took.
What then followed was a classic example of how social media posts can bite an individual - and a football club - on the backside, as rival fans unearthed this West Brom tweet from January which seems strangely ironic given the circumstances:
Cue a lot of uproar on the post, with fans from various football clubs - not just Forest but also Leeds and Wolves - all getting involved:
