Tottenham Hotspur beat Borussia Dortmund this evening.
Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sacnho has told The Independent that Tottenham Hotspur were simply the better team this evening.
Facing the Bundesliga leaders was seen as a much sterner test than Fulham, Watford, Newcastle United and Leicester City, but Spurs passed the test with flying colours.
After a goalless first half, Spurs ran riot in the second half, with Jan Vertonghen's superb cross picking out Son Heung-min, who converted with a deft volley.
Vertonghen then made it 2-0, latching on to a pinpoint ball from Serge Aurier to turn into the net, before Fernando Llorente headed in Christian Eriksen's cross for 3-0.
Spurs completely blew Dortmund away in a stunning second half display, even without star attacking duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
Dortmund had been given a big billing before the game, especially English winger Sancho, who looked dangerous in the first half but faded when Spurs took over.
After the game, Sancho was honest about the game, admitting that Tottenham were simply the better team with a fine performance, but did add that Dortmund 'lost focus' in the second half.
“Tottenham was the better team,” said Sancho. “First half, we played really well, but second half we dropped a bit and lost focus.”
