The 21-year-old midfielder left Anfield on loan on the final day of the January transfer window, returning to his homeland with Extremadura until the end of the 2018/19 season.
He is yet to make his debut for the Segunda outfit, however, with administrative problems casting doubt on his future at the Francisco de la Hera.
It is claimed that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have found a problem with Chirivella’s registration at Extremadura, which means he might not be able to play for the club and leaves him in limbo.
The Standard points out that Liverpool are hopeful that the issue will be smoothed over but there is a genuine possibility that the former Valencia youngster will be forced to return to Anfield until the summer.
The former Spain U17 international has made just five first-team appearances for Liverpool since moving to England in 2013 and recently spent time in Holland with Go Ahead Eagles.
