Should Rangers consider Jake Hastie as Ryan Kent alternative?

Glasgow Rangers want to keep Ryan Kent at Ibrox beyond this season.

It is already looking likely that turning Ryan Kent's loan into a permanent deal will be a key priority for Rangers during the summer transfer window.

The winger has been sensational at various points throughout his time at Ibrox. And The Times reported during the January transfer window that the Gers were hoping to open talks with Liverpool about extending his stay beyond this season.

But with Kent doing so well in Steven Gerrard's side, it seems entirely possible that Liverpool could decide to have another look at the wide-man in the summer or will look to sell him elsewhere while his stock is so high.

Should Rangers miss out on Kent, then perhaps they need to consider a move for Jake Hastie as he continues to catch the eye with Scottish Premiership rivals Motherwell.

The 19-year-old has grabbed the headlines recently with three goals in his last two appearances for Well, including an absolute screamer during the victory over St Mirren last week.

The Daily Record reports that a number of high-flying Championship sides in England are scouting Hastie, and could target a bargain move for the teenager with his current contract set to expire at the end of the campaign.

Rangers should definitely consider a move for the youngster this summer, perhaps even if they manage to convince Kent to stay beyond his loan spell.

Like Glenn Middleton, Hastie has enormous potential. But he is already shining at the highest level, so it could be a frightening thought to consider how good he could become in the future.

Keeping Kent would be an incredible piece of business from Rangers if they manage to pull it off this summer. But with the Liverpool ace's future uncertain, perhaps the Gers should keep a very close eye on how Hastie finishes the season.
