West Ham are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Masuaku?
West Ham are reportedly willing to offload left-back Arthur Masuaku for a bargain £10million ahead of the summer transfer window - and Newcastle United would finally solve their woes on the left side of the defence.
The Daily Mirror (12/2/19, page 56) claim the 25-year-old's lack of defensive qualities have been met with criticism by Hammers fans. Indeed, Aaron Cresswell remains first choice.
Newcastle have been after a left-back for quite some time, and they have temporarily looked to end that problem by bringing in Antonio Barreca on loan from AS Monaco with a view to a permanent deal.
But former Torino star Barreca was left out of Newcastle's squad entirely on Monday night, with Rafa Benitez stating before the match that he had been left out of the squad - despite having no injury.
Instead, Matt Ritchie was once again used out of position on the left side of defence, while Javier Manquillo came on to make a late appearance as a substitute. Barreca may not yet be ready.
It may mean that Newcastle need a new left-sided defender in the summer, with Paul Dummett's hamstring woes preventing the Wales international from getting a regular run of games.
At £10million, Masuaku is an excellent signing - especially given that he was linked with Manchester United at one point. The Frenchman has the flair, pace and skill that is missing from Benitez's side.
Owner Mike Ashley has shown he can spend money in the form of Miguel Almiron, and luring Masuaku to St. James' Park for £10million would be a top bit of business.
