Katrien Meire thanks Sheffield Wednesday for 'a fantastic time' after leaving CEO position

Meire has left Sheffield Wednesday little more than a year since her arrival.

Katrien Meire has thanked Sheffield Wednesday for 'a fantastic time' after her spell as chief executive officer ended on Monday.

Meire held the role for little more than 13 months, following her previous employment at Charlton Athletic.

Sheffield Wednesday have yet to confirm whether the decision to part with Meire was theirs, hers or a combination of the two.


And the reason for her departure is as yet unclear.

But the Belgian appears to have fond memories of her time at Hillsborough, posting the following message on Instagram earlier on Tuesday:

Meire's Charlton spell is fondly remembered by few, and was a cause for concern for many Sheffield Wednesday supporters at the time of her appointment.

But it is fair to say she leaves with more fans than she had to start with, although little is known about her true impact behind the scenes.
