Ally McCoist has praised West Bromwich Albion-owned Celtic winger Oliver Burke on Premier Sports.

The former Rangers manager was impressed with the performance of Burke for Celtic against St Johnstone at the weekend.

The former Nottingham Forest star, signed on loan from West Brom in the Championship in England in the January transfer window, started the Scottish Cup fifth-round tie at Celtic Park and played for 67 minutes.

The Scotland international winger set up two of Scott Sinclair’s goals, as Brendan Rodgers’s side won 5-0.

According to WhoScored, the 21-year-old has made four starts and three substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for the Hoops so far this season, scoring three goals in the process.

McCoist said about Burke on Premier Sports: “He is one powerful and one quick boy. If you let him turn and run at you, I think you have got some serious problems.”

Sinclair scored a hat-trick in the tie, and former Scotland international midfielder Michael Stewart believes that the winger is getting back his confident, telling BBC Sportscene: “It’s 11 (goals) in his last 11 (matches). So that tells you he is slowing starting to build up again.”

Celtic v Valencia

Both Sinclair and Burke will be important for Celtic in the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie against Valencia at Celtic Park on Thursday.

Ahead of the match, former Celtic striker Andy Walker has picked one Valencia player the Hoops need to be wary of - Denis Cheryshev.

Walker said on Sky Sports Main Event on Monday morning (11:19am, February 11, 2019): “You look at some of the players that they have, Denis Cheryshev, who showed up well at the World Cup. He can create goals, he can score goals.”
