Brendan Rodgers said on Sunday that he has no qualms with playing Celtic winger Jonny Hayes at left-back in Thursday's Europa League clash with Valencia.
Rodgers has been alternating with the Irishman and Emilio Izaguirre in that defensive role since Kieran Tierney has been injured.
Hayes impressed there again in Sunday's 5-0 demolition of St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup and the Northern Irish manager, speaking to a press conference via 90 Minute Cynic, hinted that he would start this week when the Spanish outfit visit Parkhead.
Although Hayes has given a very good account of himself in an unfamiliar role, the ultimate test lies ahead.
If Rodgers plays him, the former Aberdeen star will be coming up against one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe in Carlos Soler.
With respect to right-sided attackers in Scotland, nobody who Hayes - or indeed Izaguirre - has faced this season can prepare him for what could be a very difficult 90 minutes against the Spaniard.
Soler can and has made fools out of good, established left-backs in Spain this season, so what he could do to a winger playing in a very unfamiliar position is slightly ominous from the Hoops' perspective.
