Hugo Lloris hasn't had a brilliant season with Tottenham Hotspur, but he came to his side's rescue today.
But Spurs had to work hard for the three points and Lloris intervened at a crucial time.
The France international, a World Cup winner last summer, brilliantly saved Jamie Vardy's penalty to keep the score at 1-0 to Mauricio Pochettino's side, who swiftly doubled their lead through Christian Eriksen.
Moments after Eriksen's goal, Lloris then denied Harvey Barnes in a one-on-one chance.
The former Lyon star hasn't always inspired confidence among Lilywhites fans this season, but they were loving him this afternoon and here's how they reacted:
Lloris did save a penalty away at Monaco, a couple of years ago, but he was brilliant today and hopefully shut his haters up today #Coys— Gary (@garydonTHFC) February 10, 2019
Lloris was huge today. Often criticised for his mistakes but key performer in us winning that today! #COYS— Adam THFC Williams (@Adam23Williams) February 10, 2019
Maybe today will silence the Lloris doubters. Such a good keeper. #thfc— Barks (@Kevbark3r) February 10, 2019
I take it all back, Hugo. I'm sorry.— Carl (@CarlTHFC) February 10, 2019
But you still can't pass a ball ngl.
Didn’t know Hugo could do that but well done, captain!#COYS— Lee James (@LeeJames1882) February 10, 2019
Doesn't deserve the amount of criticism. World class on his day— My one and only club #COYS #TTID (@del_boy_alli) February 10, 2019
My eyes have seen Hugo Lloris save a penalty, what a time to be alive— Soph (@soph_thfc) February 10, 2019
Nobody doubted Lloris's ability, because it's been there for all to see for many years, but consistency has been a problem in recent seasons.
Spurs are back at Wembley next week for a first leg with Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the Champions League, and if the 32-year-old is in this kind of mood on that occasion then it'll go a long way to boosting his side's chances of progressing.
