The 22-year-old winger has been superb for the Gers so far this season and has established himself as an important player in manager Steven Gerrard’s side.

According to Transfermarkt.com, the former England Under-20 international has scored six goals and provided four assists in 16 Scottish Premiership appearances for the Gers so far this campaign.

The Daily Record has claimed that Rangers manager Gerrard is desperate to keep Kent at Ibrox beyond the summer of 2019, but McAllister admits that it may not be possible.

McAllister told The Daily Record about Kent: “The fact is, Ryan’s still a Liverpool player so it’s a decision for Liverpool, isn’t it?

“Will he be here next season? It would be nice because we’ve seen the benefits of having him here but he’s Liverpool’s player.

“We keep asking the question but it’s up to them. They’re very much aware of what he’s doing up here.”

Disappointing for Rangers fans

Kent is very popular among the Rangers fans, and one suspects that the Ibrox outfit will love it if the club are able to sign the winger on a permanent contract in the summer of 2019.

However, given that Kent is only 22 years of age, Liverpool could well decide to hand him a chance in the first team next season and see how he does.
