Barclays said on Thursday it hired Riaz Ladhabhoy, an investment banker from Deutsche Bank to be the co-head of internet banking in the Americas, a move that comes ahead of a wave of IPOs expected in the sector this year.

Reuters reports that Ladhabhoy, a managing director, will be based at Barclays’ Menlo Park, California office and will start in the spring.

In the meantime, Bloomberg News reports that Bank of America Merrill Lynch hired Investecs Alec Schoeman as head of equities within its global markets business in South Africa, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Schoeman will be based in Johannesburg when he joins in early March, the person said, asking not to be identified because the matter is private. He will report to Nick Egerton, head of a division called Equities High-Touch Sales Trading for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Richard Gush, the country executive for South Africa, the person said.

Finally, Reuters also reports that Bank of America Merrill Lynch has named Sanaz Zaimi as head of its new Paris-based European Union broker-dealer unit BofA Securities Europe, the U.S. bank said on Friday.
