Luke Ayling continues to struggle for Leeds United.

A lot of Leeds United fans on Twitter are slaughtering Luke Ayling.

The 27-year-old played 80 minutes as stuttering Leeds rescued a point at Middlesbrough in the Championship today, with Kalvin Phillips grabbing a last-minute equaliser.

The 1-1 draw papered over the cracks of what was another erratic performance from Marcelo Bielsa’s side – and this definitely applies to the former Arsenal right-back.

Ayling, who returned from a two-month layoff before Christmas, just hasn’t looked himself in recent months. He doesn’t look the same energetic and defensively-sound full-back that Whites fans have been raving about for years.

He was replaced by Jamie Shackleton with 10 minutes left and the 19-year-old looked a breath of fresh air in comparison to what Ayling was offering.

Here’s how Leeds fans reacted to his display:

Ayling is a classy player and five or six dodgy showings doesn’t change that.

But it is somewhat worrying from a Leeds perspective that those five or six games came over the space of around two months.

Since Christmas he simply hasn’t looked like the player who United supporters fell in love, but hopefully for his sake and the team’s sake he can prove that class is permanent.
