Tim Sherwood has claimed that Arsenal cannot find cheap talents like Tottenham star Dele Alli after it was reported that they could have a limited transfer budget for the summer.

The Mirror claim that Gunners manager Unai Emery will only have £40 million to spend when the transfer window re-opens at the end of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

During the January transfer window of 2015, Tottenham signed then-18-year-old midfielder Dele Alli for £5 million before loaning him back to MK Dons, as reported by BBC Sport.

Considering the reported budget Emery will have this summer, Sherwood does not think Arsenal can pull off or find a transfer like Alli’s as he explained why Pochettino can ‘cope’ with spending such little money.

“The reason why Tottenham can cope with [hardly spending any money] is that since Pochettino’s been at Tottenham [five years] they have signed 27 players,” Sherwood told the Debate show on Sky Sports on 05/02/2019.

“He [Poch] doesn’t need so many [players because he can cope]. He [Emery] has been their 10 minutes. He needs bodies. He’s had one transfer window. You have to give him at least three or four transfer windows to bring his own people in.

“Now, with £40 million, what are you going to bring in with any quality? It’s not all about how much you spend. It’s about having the right scouting network… to find the talent. Whether they are £5m like Alli. Do you see that sort of transfer at Arsenal? We haven’t seen it at all!”

Since signing for Spurs, Alli has gone on to become a key member of Pochettino’s side and with it become a fully-fledged England international.

Nonetheless, during the recently concluded winter transfer window, as reported by BBC Sport, Barcelona winger Denis Suarez signed for Arsenal on loan until the end of the season.

It is stated in the report that the Gunners have the option to buy the 25-year-old attacker when his loan deal expires at the end of the campaign.

Emery, who replaced the long-serving Arsene Wenger in the summer, is aiming to help his team finish in the top four of the Premier League table.

At this moment in time, they are sitting in sixth place, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and a further 10 points behind their north London rivals.
