Dominic Iorfa has admitted that he found himself frustrated towards the end of his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The defender had been in the Black Country since 2013 after arriving from Southend United but rapidly fell down the pecking order once Nuno Espirito Santo arrived a year and a half ago.
Iorfa had not made a league appearance for Wolves since the 2016/17 season and was frequently left out of the squad after their promotion to the Premier League.
The former England U21 international has been handed a belated fresh start, however, joining Sheffield Wednesday for £500,000 on transfer deadline day, as reported by Sky Sports.
And, speaking to The Star, Iorfa admits that leaving Wolves was the right decision.
"It was frustrating,” he said.
“At the end of the day, I was not in the manager's plans at Wolves. They are doing well in the Premier League and going in the right direction. I wanted to be part of it.”
Iorfa can expect to find game time easier to come by at Sheffield Wednesday with Steve Bruce looking to build the side in his image. The defender’s ability to play at centre-half and full-back should stand him in good stead as he aims to become a key player at Hillsborough.
But it is unlikely that he will be missed too badly at Molineux.
