The company has big plans for the launch of the new Disney+ streaming service.
Disney has further monopolised the entertainment industry in recent years and have helped to shape many of the global cinema market's most successful franchises. Marvel Entertainment, Pixar and Lucasfilm are such huge brands in the realm of entertainment, and new streaming service Disney+ will provide them with a new home.
Expectations are vague as of yet, but we can expect Disney to create a hub which allows us to access their content easily, all in one place. It's sure to be very popular, particularly when one considers this recent announcement.
According to The Verge, the upcoming MCU film Captain Marvel will be the first film exclusive to the Disney+ streaming service. It will be interesting to see how this affects the film's reception, and of course, how it influences the film's consumption on a larger scale. Although we're yet to see the results, it's likely that Disney+ will be a significant name by the end of the year.
