Super Bowl’s 53rd edition did not perform too well on US television, hitting a 10-year low.
The Super Bowl drew an overnight rating of 44.9 on US television, marking its lowest ratings performance in 10 years. Given the furore surrounding the event, particularly with the Colin Kaepernick controversy and the New Orleans Saints fans’ protests over not being in the finale, it is perhaps not surprising.

Super Bowl 53 is still predicted to be the highest-rated television event of 2019 though. The event saw the New England Patriots compete for the third year in a row and a Halftime Show performance from Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi.
