A list of the HMV retailers set to close has recently surfaced.

There has been some good and bad news today regarding the development of HMV's current situation. Doug Putman of Sunrise Records has acquired the chain, partially saving the retailer and ensuring it doesn't disappear completely. Unfortunately, not all the branches will be saved.

Most fans of physical media have supported HMV through difficult times over the years. Sadly, your local store may be set to close. According to NME, these are the stories scheduled to close their doors:

Ayr

Bath

Bluewater

Bristol, Cribbs

Chichester

Exeter, Princesshay

Fopp, Bristol

Fopp, Glasgow Byres

Fopp, Manchester

Fopp, Oxford

Glasgow, Braehead

Hereford

Manchester, Trafford

Merry Hill

Oxford Street

Peterborough, Queensgate

Plymouth, Drake Circus

Reading

Sheffield, Meadowhall

Southport

Thurrock

Tunbridge

Uxbridge

Watford

Westfield

Wimbledon

It's a real shame for those that frequent any of the above stores. On the other hand, it's terrific news that one-hundred stores will remain open. Hopefully, this encourages more people to support the chain in the near future. This is the second time in six years that the future of HMV has been threatened. Let's hope that it is the last and that the stores remaining open are here to stay.
