Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting to Nigel Pearson’s sacking as manager of OH Leuven.

The Belgian side parted with the former Wednesday captain on Sunday, with their side bottom of the second tier.

But it is not Pearson being discussed by those of an Owls persuasion, rather the former Hillsborough striker, George Hirst.

Hirst was regarded by some as one of the most promising talents to have ever emerged from the Sheffield Wednesday academy system.

But having failed to agree a new contract with the Owls, the soon-to-be 20-year-old walked out of the Championship club at the end of his deal last summer.

Seven months later, however, Hirst has struggled to make to impact many people had expected – scoring twice in 19 games across the North Sea.
