It's been a good year for horror promotion at the Super Bowl. As well as a brand new trailer for Jordan Peele's upcoming film Us, we've also been treated to a look at Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The film is based on the popular children's book series of the same name, but from what we've seen, it looks like its readership is set to experience new nightmares.
The film is directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) and produced by Academy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan's Labyrinth), a fitting collaborative duo. During the Super Bowl, a series of promos were released teasing some sinister scares, and here they are:
It looks like the project boasts some pretty frightening content, but it also teases a lot of fun. The film deals with kids having to face their fears, a concept which allows for a lot of creativity - of course, the two individuals at the helm have a lot at their disposal. Both are imaginative filmmakers, and we expect the film to be as exciting to watch as it must have been for them to make. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark arrives August 9, 2019.
