Liverpool fans haven't reacted well to the latest news about Joe Gomez.

The Premier League leaders announced on Monday that the young centre-back was set to undergo surgery after suffering a lower leg fracture against Burnley on December 5.

Although no timescale is offered, the announcement on Liverpool's official website confirmed that it's 'likely' he will play again for Jurgen Klopp's side this season.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold also out, the Reds have been contending with a depleted back four as of late.

And here's how Liverpool supporters reacted to Gomez's setback.

It's worrying for the former Charlton man, who joined the Anfield club in 2015 under Brendan Rodgers, but a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury in October of that year saw him endure a disappointing first year on Merseyside.

He has been making up for lost time under Klopp, who has transformed him into a brilliant centre-back, and time will tell when the 21-year-old can return alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool have a massive trip to West Ham tonight. Klopp's side need to win to restore a five-point cushion over second-placed Manchester City.
