Villa managed to get through another transfer window with Grealish still at the club, though his injury was a factor in teams failing to make any moves for the playmaker.
Grealish isn't back to fitness yet after suffering a shin injury last month, but there are still major fears that he will move on to a Premier League team this summer if Villa don't win promotion.
The Sun report that Villa have already started looking at potential replacements, and are considering a big-money move for Nottingham Forest's Joe Lolley.
Lolley, 26, has been in fine form this season, hitting seven goals and seven assists in 30 Championship outings for Forest, including one goal and four assists against Villa in November.
It's claimed that Villa are now looking to launch a £12million move for Lolley, potentially giving Forest and ex-Villa boss Martin O'Neill something to think about.
Another factor is that Lolley grew up supporting Villa, and the chance to turn out for his boyhood club could be hugely appealing.
A move for Lolley would seemingly only materialise if Grealish goes, in which case Villa could replace one boyhood Villa fan with another in a curious twist.
