Celtic announced a surprise deal for talented prospect Manny Perez on deadline day.
The deal for Perez was confirmed by the club as part of a double announcement with Andrew Gutman.
Perez had been on trial at Celtic in December, the Scottish Sun reported at the time.
Here are five facts about the new Celtic addition…
1) Perez impressed in the collegiate system in America. He scored five goals and provided four assists in 15 games for North Carolina.
2) The 19-year-old has been a regular recently for the USA under-20 side, making six appearances and scoring once.
3) Perez also had the opportunity to play international football for Mexico – but the US were first to express interest in him.
4) Perez rejected the chance to sign with Major League Soccer clubs because he was determined to progress his career abroad.
5) In 2017 Perez won the prestigious ACC US Freshman of the Year award, handed out to top prospects in his region.
