Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have signed German full-back Toljan from Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund.

After just one-and-a-half seasons at Borussia Dortmund, Jeremy Toljan has bid farewell to the Signal Iduna Park – albeit initially on loan.
Celtic finally sealed a long-awaited deal for the 24-year-old in the closing minutes of transfer deadline day with the versatile defender arriving as a potential solution to The Hoops’ long-running right-back problem.
Celtic fans are understandably delighted to have snapped up a player from one of Europe’s most feared an in-form sides. But how do Dortmund fans feel about Toljan’s temporary departure?
Well, the view from Germany seems to pain a picture of a talented yet underused player who could fulfil his undoubted potential with a short-term spell in Scotland.

Toljan was tipped for big things when he moved to Dortmund from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2017 for a fee of £4.5 million (BVB Buzz). The swashbuckling wide-man shone in the 2016/17 campaign and was one of Germany’s top performers as they won the 2017 European U21 Championships.
Toljan’s performance in the semi-finals against England was outstanding, an irrepressible force on the right hand side.
But, after falling down the pecking order and failing to make a single Bundesliga appearance for BVB all season, Toljan arrives at Celtic needing to salvage his reputation.
