Leeds United’s move for Swansea ace is off.

Leeds United’s move for winger Dan James is off, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The YEP report Swansea City have cancelled the transfer despite James travelling to Leeds and passing a medical.

Sky Sports live transfer deadline day broadcast reported at 11.27pm via reporter Tim Thornton that James is ‘very disappointed’ that the move is off.

James was Leeds’ top target as they looked to add to their squad and bolster their promotion challenge.

The two clubs were unable to agree a fee for James in a saga which had dragged on all day.

The YEP reported Leeds had offered to pay Swansea more than £1 million to sign James on loan plus £5 million if they win promotion.

The Whites are top of the league and face second placed Norwich City this weekend.

Leeds host Swansea City in the Championship on February 13.
