According to a report from the Daily Mirror's live transfer blog (31/1), Augsburg could win the race to sign Reece Oxford on transfer deadline day, with the Bundesliga side interested in signing the West Ham youngster on loan.

Oxford's future has been a talking point for much of the window. Sky Sports reported that Heerenveen, Notthingham Forest and Eintracht Frankfurt had all held talks over a move for the 20-year-old this month.

However, that report from Sky Sports added that Oxford had decided that he would not be leaving the London Stadium on a permanent basis this month, and would instead look to see out the rest of his contract, which expires in 2021.

But while he may not be leaving permanently, he could still seemingly be on his way in a loan move. The Daily Mirror have reported on their live transfer blog (31/1) that Augsburg are keen on signing the youngster on a temporary basis, and he is said to be keen on leaving the Hammers to get minutes.

It appears to make a lot of sense for Oxford to leave today. Manuel Pellegrini has seemingly shown little interest in using him in the Irons first-team since his appointment in the summer, and there are fears amongst the fans that his career has stagnated significantly.

Augsburg look destined to finish in mid-table in the Bundesliga this term. So it could be a good opportunity for the defender to prove a point if he decides that that is where he would like to go.
