Championship table-toppers Leeds United are finally set to sign Daniel James for a potential £10million fee.

Swansea City winger Daniel James is undergoing a medical at Leeds United as one of the month’s most long-running transfer sagas nears its conclusion, according to Sky Sports (live blog, 2.34pm).

James has enjoyed an impressive season alongside fellow academy graduates Joe Rodon and Connor Roberts at the Liberty Stadium, establishing himself as a key player under Graham Potter and producing four assists in the Championship.

The Wales international has been linked with table-topping Leeds during the last few weeks, however, with the West Yorkshire giants seemingly identifying him as a replacement for Samu Saiz.

And, after a constant stream of speculation, it seems the Whites will get their top target with just hours of the transfer window remaining.

Sky believes that the 21-year-old is undergoing a medical and should be announced as Leeds’ second January signing after the former Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

The BBC reported earlier in the day that Leeds are to sign James on an initial loan deal which could become permanent if they are promoted to the Premier League. The gifted forward could cost £10 million, which would make him their most expensive signing since Robbie Fowler in 2001.
