And it is said that a another year’s loan is the most likely outcome, with the Newcastle winger, Jacob Murphy, heading to the Hawthorns temporarily until the summer.
Staying with Newcastle, the club have confirmed that the Monaco defender Antonio Barreca has completed a loan move to Tyneside.
Another player linked with the Magpies this month, the Everton winger, Yannick Bolasie, is weighing up his future after returning from a loan spell from Aston Villa [The Sun deadline day live blog, 12:15].
The newspaper claims the Belgian giants, Anderlecht, are interested in a six-month loan deal, but adds – somewhat contradictorily – that Bolasie has vowed to stay at Everton.
