Newcastle United are working on a longer deal for the on-loan West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon [The Telegraph deadline day live blog, 11:53].

Rondon's current Magpies spell is due to expire at the end of the campaign, although it is claimed they are keen to keep him beyond that.

 

The newspaper adds the Venezuelan does not want to return to West Brom, who would want £15 million to sell him this month.

And it is said that a another year's loan is the most likely outcome, with the Newcastle winger, Jacob Murphy, heading to the Hawthorns temporarily until the summer.

Staying with Newcastle, the club have confirmed that the Monaco defender Antonio Barreca has completed a loan move to Tyneside.

Another player linked with the Magpies this month, the Everton winger, Yannick Bolasie, is weighing up his future after returning from a loan spell from Aston Villa [The Sun deadline day live blog, 12:15].

The newspaper claims the Belgian giants, Anderlecht, are interested in a six-month loan deal, but adds - somewhat contradictorily - that Bolasie has vowed to stay at Everton.

Moving down to the Championship, Nottingham Forest are close to finalising a loan deal for the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker, Leo Bonatini [The Mail deadline day live blog, 12:40].

However, it is being claimed that Forest sources are adamant the Stoke City winger, James McClean, is not a target [The Telegraph deadline day live blog, 11:52].
