Nottingham Forest are set to miss out on the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Simon Falette, according to the Nottingham Post.

The Championship side have already reinforced their back-line since Martin O’Neill returned to the City Ground almost a fortnight ago, bringing Yohan Benalouane in from Leicester City.

But with Michael Dawson and Michael Hefele struggling with injuries, and Danny Fox on his way to Wigan Athletic, Forest are understood to be prioritising another defensive addition with just two days remaining in the transfer window.

The Post claims that Forest have expressed an interest in the 26-year-old Frenchman Falette, who has started just five league games for Bundesliga high-flyers Frankfurt this season.

But the report adds that Falette is instead set to return to his homeland with Ligue 1 outfit Nantes on the verge of landing the former Lorient, Brest and Metz centre-back.

So it seems that Forest will have to look elsewhere. A combative and commanding defender renowned for his strength in the air, Falette could have been an excellent addition to O’Neill’s ranks.
