Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan is reportedly close to joining Sheffield United before the transfer window shuts.

Garry Thompson has backed Aston Villa’s reported decision to allow striker Scott Hogan to leave the club before transfer deadline day.
Sky Sports claimed on Wednesday morning that the 26-year-old is currently undergoing a medical at Sheffield United ahead of a loan move.
It is said that the out-of-form senior player has fallen out of favour in the Midlands, with Championship rivals Bristol City also showing interest in his services.
Holte End favourite Thompson offered his thoughts on Hogan’s potential departure as he explained why Villa are doing the right thing in allowing him to leave this month.
“At the minute, his confidence is so low,” Thompson told BBC WM. “He has come on a couple of times and he doesn’t look like he has any confidence.
“Maybe getting away on loan somewhere, getting a few games under his belt, nicking a few goals, you’ll get the striker Villa brought 18 months ago.”

When Hogan joined Villa in January 2017, he came from Brentford when Dean Smith, now Villa manager, was still in charge of the London outfit.
Upon his arrival, he joined a team that had just been relegated to the second tier of English football but struggled to adapt to Steve Bruce’s style of play.
As a result, Hogan’s confidence dropped, he was out of form and injuries along the way didn’t help his progression in trying to prove his worth to the Villa faithful.
During his time at the club, the Salford-born player scored 10 goals and supplied four assists from his 61 matches. If he moves to United then he joins a side that is sitting just outside of the automatic places.
